What is vintage?

The word vintage comes to us from the world of wine. It is the epitome of a great year, an exceptional wine. So to name a garment “vintage” is to define it as something exceptional, a “grand cru de la haute couture”.
To be worthy it has to:
- Be at least 20 years of age
- Be representative of the designer’s own style
- Be in its original state with no alterations
- Represent a period in fashion
- Be perfectly conserved

Used in many areas, Vintage, unlike the Fripe, means goods or styles scratched with a history.
Nostalgic of the past, consumers and creators continue to follow the fashion of the 30s to 80s with reprints, reinterpretations, or large exhibitions in tribute to the greatest.
More than just garments, or objects of another decade, vintage is a lifestyle. Rare, scratched and not eblamatic of current times.
